Meeting People

I'm on family vacation at Bass Lake. My mom's best friend has a house here and it is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, the two boats don't hurt and it is so fun to go inner tubing. The only problem is that besides my brother, no one here wants to get pulled behind a boat at 40 mph for hours on end and we need 3 people- 1 to drive, 1 to do it and 1 to monitor. So, we set off to find another person who would go with us. It isn't that easy since most people here are young families. There is one group of young adults, but they appear to be unchaperoned and thus seem to be more interested in the beach parties. On TV, in this situation, we would simply bump into some random cute guy who just so happens to be smart, athletic and our age. Why can't this happen now?
I have become more active in my search for someone our age and have met some people with these tips:
1. walking the adorable dog- definitely a conversation starter (especially if you have one close to 200 lbs)
2. Hang out by the rental place or the ice cream stand- lots of cool people there.
3. Secretly sabotage the cute guys kayak so that you can swim out and rescue him like the little mermaid (totally just kidding)
4. Chill on the outskirts of a party and wait until someone throws the frisbee too far and asks you to throw it back.
5. Set a trail of cupcakes from where they are to where you are.
6. Reverse # 3 and pretend to be drowning in plain sight
7. okay too ridiculous. None of these is foolproof (and most are foolish). The only sure fire way to get some face to face time with other people- if you see them- TALk to them.
Its hard and awkward, but they are probably looking for people to hang with too. I learned this half and hour ago when some guy randomly came to talk to me.
We are going out on the speed boat first thing tomorrow morning. :)

<3 Heads up!
