Talk

I was htinking about words today and it occurred to me that there are a lot of words, many of them which simply mean "cool" which go out of style almost as soon as they appear. We know these words and usually only use them ironically or sarcastically or whatever. Here is a list of some of my favorite outdated jargon:

1. Swell- as in "that's swell" a word used in the 50s or so to mean good in a really innocent way.

2. Rad- surfer term meaning cool. users often also say "bra" instead of friend and wear boardshorts more than real clothes.

3. Droll- comes from the Jane Austen era and means amusing in an odd way- kinda like a jester. not really a compliment methinks, but it would be today. Which is why I think this is the word to bring back. So droll

4. Fetch- never really existed I guess. See Mean Girls

5. the bomb- Some people today still are the bomb, but this is definitely more of a 90s thing? Idk, but maybe after the age of terrorism we just don't like to be shouting "bomb" excitedly or otherwise.

6. Square- meaning uncool or lame. hippie talk.

7. The beesknees and the cat's meow- cerca 1920. the epitome of awesome, but seriously- wtf?

8.Cash or check? - My favorite of the 20's. meaning- Do you kiss now or later?

9.Psychedelic- word for the tasty colors for people on drugs

10. hella, 24/7, like - that was hella cool. we should do that like 24/7. he was like "call you later." Valley girl. meaning is the most obvi ever. Honestly, anyone talking like this isn't saying anything worth deciphering. Very often used mockingly by the people who talk like that anyway.
